Carrie Lavie holds a BASc in Clinical Nutrition, and is a member of the Dieticians of Canada, the Ayurvedic Association of Canada, and the National Ayurvedic Medical Association. Carrie is an AAC (Ayurvedic Association of Canada) certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and Ayurvedic Doctor candidate. Having completed countless trainings in Nutrition, Ayurveda, Marma Chikitsa, Ayurvedic Bodywork, Cooking, Yoga, and other complementary movement modalities, spanning three decades, she brings a wide scope of knowledge to her practice, coupled with her intuitive, receptive approach. She specializes in Perinatal Ayurvedic Protocols having completed trainings through The Sacred Window, with Ysha Oakes, and Mothering the Mother Ayurvedic Postpartum Training by Julia Jones. She has trained extensively with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in Ayurvedic Cooking and Nutrition, Marma Chikitsa (Applied Marma Therapy), Darshanam (Face Diagnostics - ears, tongue, face), and Annavaha Srotas (Clinical Assessment and Management of the Digestive System). Especially close to her heart is Kerala Ayurveda Academy and Dr.-Vaidya. Jayarajan Kodikannath, who has provided her with an extensive, authentic, traditional Ayurvedic education straight from the source. To support her work with Mothers, she underwent Parent Educator training and is a Certified Parent Counsellor who is deeply informed by Ayurvedic knowledge of the doshas within families. Her current focus is on Women's Health through the lifespan including menstruation concerns, perinatal support and perimenopause and menopause guidance. She is an Integrated Health Practitioner with decades of experience. Clients benefit from her ability to draw on her knowledge of multiple modalities, her caring disposition, and her awareness of current research in the areas of Ayurvedic Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, The Microbiome, Gut-Brain Axis, Neuroscience, and Yoga Findings. Carrie is a certified Yoga Instructor, practicing yoga, meditation, and holistic health since the 1980's mostly in the Hatha Yoga, Vanda Scaravelli, and Viniyoga (Krishnamacharya lineage) style. Her current teachers are Sri Shruba (Krishnamacharya's daughter), Dr. N.Chandrasekaran (Director of Yoga Therapy at Krisnamacharya Yoga Mandiram-KYM), A.G. Mohan and Indra Mohan, Rosemary Jeanes Antze (A senior student of Desikachar), and Monica Voss (Student of the late Vanda Scaravelli). She wishes you all much healing on this mysterious journey of life.
