CCF Tea

Ayurvedic CCF Tea: A Simple Daily Ritual for Better Digestion

In Ayurveda, digestion is considered the foundation of good health. When digestion is strong, the body can properly absorb nutrients, eliminate waste, and maintain balance. One of the simplest and most time-tested Ayurvedic remedies for supporting digestion is CCF tea—a gentle herbal infusion made from cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds.

What Is CCF Tea?

CCF stands for Cumin, Coriander, and Fennel—three digestive spices commonly used in Ayurvedic cooking and healing. When brewed together as a tea, these seeds create a soothing drink that supports digestive fire (agni) without being harsh or overstimulating.

This tea is suitable for daily use and can be enjoyed by all doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Benefits of CCF Tea

1. Supports Healthy Digestion: CCF tea helps stimulate digestive enzymes, reduce bloating, and ease gas. It’s especially helpful sipped warm, in small quanitity with meals, or throughout the day when digestion feels sluggish.

2. Gently Detoxifying: The combination of these spices supports the body’s natural detoxification processes.

3. Reduces Bloating and Discomfort: Fennel and coriander are known for their carminative properties, which help relieve abdominal discomfort and heaviness.

4. Balances the Doshas

  • Vata: Warm and grounding

  • Pitta: Cooling and soothing

  • Kapha: Light and gently stimulating

5. Supports Metabolism and Weight Balance: By improving digestion and reducing water retention, CCF tea can support a balanced metabolism when used consistently.

How to Make Ayurvedic CCF Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds

  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds

  • 4 cups water

Instructions:

  1. Combine all seeds and water in a small pot.

  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes.

  3. Strain and sip warm throughout the day.

Optional: Lightly crush the seeds before boiling for a stronger flavor and enhanced benefits. Add a pinch of dry ginger in the winter for a little extra digestive support.

When to Drink CCF Tea

  • First thing in the morning to gently wake up digestion

  • Between meals to reduce cravings and bloating

  • Sipped in small quantity during meals to support proper digestion (large quanitites of liquids taken with food is not recommended)

Note: Avoid drinking it ice-cold, as cold beverages can weaken digestive fire according to Ayurveda.

A Simple Practice with Powerful Results

CCF tea is a beautiful example of how Ayurveda emphasizes simplicity and consistency. With just three common spices and a few minutes of preparation, you can create a daily ritual that supports digestion, balance, and overall well-being.

If you’re looking for a gentle, natural way to care for your gut, Ayurvedic CCF tea is a perfect place to start.
